Little Squaw

12 months ago I was invited on a trip down to a property that Brielle’s family has owned for generations (I think they stole it from the Indians) – unfortunately, I flew out to NZ the day of the trip.  This post is about this years trip which I’ve been looking forward to for 12 months.

Before I start, I want to share a story involving the bridge in the top photo:  The property has a 99 year leasehold from the forestry department. but the leaseholder cannot limit access for fishermen or people just exploring.  Some time ago the forestry department wouldn’t replace the bridge (the only access to the property), so Brielle’s family built a bridge…… that they own.

They can’t restrict access to the property, but they can restrict use of their bridge.

Brilliant!!!

How could I not like: the location, the people associated with it and the concept/history that created Little Squaw.  Anyway, here is our crib for the weekend, Blue Bells (one of 8 cabins).

Morning walk.  Dogs are not that smart.  Who is that waving at you Rover?

After helping to get the water running I was excused from work duties to go hiking with the girls.

Tom went hiking with a blonde, a brunette and a red head……..

There was a river but Brielle kept going…….

The hike reminded me of the Sam Summers Hut tramp in NZ. That will feel familiar to many of my southern mates.

One night, just before dinner I went for a wee bike ride.  A weekend with 3 chicks meant I didn’t get a chance to cook or do dishes….  bugger.
