Spring Collection

Now that the mountain is closed I get to clean out the toy closet and knock off some ‘spring time’ missions.

I’ve been taking the mountain bike out a bit and I’m trying to spend as much time down at 7 Mile as I can.  The local mountain bike club have been building this over the last 5 years or so.

Darn pedestrians….. actually I feel like a pedestrian out here – haha.

And the area is surrounded by the lake which is kind of pretty – pity it is too darn cold to swim in.

I had hoped to do a winter trip up to Lake Harris on the Routeburn Track which never happened so I thought I’d get up there and get some GPS points for next winter.  Unforunately, I was stopped again because of too much snow up high but it was a nice day all the same.  This is where I had lunch…..

Walking back down the valley – 3hrs down the valley is the car.

Another mission on the list was to head up and check out some of the old shiite mining sites above Glenorchy.  The sign didn’t say no mountain bikes (the sign that had fallen down might have) so I took it up.  Again…. there was a little more snow than I expected up high.

Spring is white bait season so again this year I headed over with the old boys for 4 days of drinking…. ooops I mean fishing.

We felt kinda stupid when the tide came in and we couldn’t get the truck off the sand bank (I’m not kidding).

Grant brought over his jetboat….
